InfiniteDepth — User Guide
Version 1.0.0 | Lowbit Records / Highbit Software
What Is InfiniteDepth?
InfiniteDepth is an atmosphere and depth plugin for producers who want their mixes to feel bigger, richer, and more professional — without spending hours dialing in reverbs or hunting for the right pad.
Drop it on any track or aux bus. It plays a continuously looping ambient texture — a drone, atmosphere, or noise texture — tuned to your key and locked to your DAW tempo. The first sound you try will already sit right in your mix. Blend it in, adjust the depth and width, add some reverb or sidechain ducking, and you're done.
InfiniteDepth is built for speed. It is not a sampler, a synth, or a mixer. It does one thing: add depth and space to your music, fast.

The Interface
InfiniteDepth has two main areas: the Sound Browser on the left, and the Controls Panel on the right.
Header Bar
The header runs across the top of the plugin.
| Control | What It Does |
|---|---|
| BPM display | Shows the current tempo. Reads from your DAW when SYNC is on. |
| SYNC button | When ON (default), BPM is read from your DAW. When OFF, you can type in a manual BPM. |
| KEY dropdown | Set the root key of your project (C through B). InfiniteDepth pitch-shifts sounds to match. |
| SCALE dropdown | Set the scale type. Currently displays your selection — scale-based filtering is coming in a future update. |
Tip: Set the key before browsing sounds. When you select a sound, InfiniteDepth automatically transposes it to your key, so it fits without any manual tuning.
Sound Browser (Left Panel)
Waveform Strip
At the top of the browser, a waveform preview shows the currently loaded sound. The sound name is displayed alongside its native key and native BPM.
Category Tabs
Three tabs filter the library by sound type:
- DRONES — sustained, harmonic textures with a strong tonal center. Good for adding harmonic depth and weight.
- ATMOSPHERES — evolving ambient pads and airy textures. Good for space and mood.
Genre Filter
The dropdown below the category tabs filters sounds by production genre:
| Genre | Character |
|---|---|
| All | Show everything |
| Lo-Fi | Tape warmth, vinyl noise, dusty textures |
| Cinematic | Wide, dramatic pads and evolving atmospheres |
| Trap | Sub-heavy drones, dark and moody |
| Ambient | Clean, minimal, spacious |
| Electronic | Synthesized, modern, precise |
| Organic | Field recordings, natural textures, room sounds |
Sound List
The filtered sounds are listed below. Click any sound to select it. The active sound is highlighted in amber.
Each row shows the sound name and its genre tag.
Controls Panel (Right Panel)
POSITION
Three large knobs control where the texture sits in your mix.
| Knob | Range | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| DEPTH | 0–100% | 0 = sound sits up front, 1 = pushed far back. Depth adds a short pre-delay and rolls off high frequencies to simulate distance. |
| WIDTH | 0–100% | 0 = mono, 100% = wide stereo. Uses M/S processing for a natural, phase-coherent result. |
| LEVEL | 0–100% | Master output level. Set this so the texture blends into your mix without overpowering it. |
Tip: DEPTH around 50–70% and WIDTH around 60–80% is a good starting point for most mixes. The texture sits behind the main elements but fills the space.
EQ
Shape the tonal character of the texture before it hits your mix.
| Control | Range | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| HP toggle | On/Off | Enables a high-pass filter to roll off low-end mud at 80Hz |
| LP toggle | On/Off | Enables a low-pass filter to roll off harsh high frequencies above 12kHz. |
| MID slider | -12 dB to +6 dB | Boosts or cuts the presence band around 2 kHz. |
Tip: The high-pass filter is on by default at 80 Hz. This keeps low-end clean so the texture doesn't fight your kick or bass. If you're layering a drone for harmonic weight, you may want to disable it.
REVERB
Add reverb to the texture for extra space. Especially useful with Drones and Atmospheres categories.
| Knob | Range | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| SIZE | 0–100% | Controls the size of the reverb room. |
| DECAY | 0.1 – 20 s | Sets how long the reverb tail lasts. |
| DAMP | 0–100% | Dampens high frequencies in the reverb tail — higher values sound warmer and less bright. |
| MIX | 0–100% | Dry/wet blend of the reverb effect. |
Enable with the REVERB ON toggle.
DELAY
Add a synced delay to the texture for rhythm and movement.
| Knob | What It Does |
|---|---|
| TIME | Note division synced to your DAW BPM: 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, whole note. |
| FDBK | Feedback amount (how many delay repeats). Hard-limited to prevent runaway feedback. |
| MIX | Dry/wet blend of the delay effect. |
Enable with the DELAY ON toggle. Delay time stays locked to tempo even if you change BPM mid-session.
SIDECHAIN
Duck the texture's volume when a kick drum or another signal hits. This keeps the texture from cluttering up the low-end on the attack of each beat.
| Knob | Range | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| THR | -60 – 0 dBFS | Threshold. Ducking starts when the sidechain signal exceeds this level. Default -18 dBFS. |
| ATK | 1 – 200 ms | How fast the volume ducks when the trigger hits. |
| REL | 50 – 2000 ms | How fast the volume recovers after the trigger passes. |
| DEPTH | 0–100% | How much the volume is reduced when ducking. 100% = silence on the transient. |
Enable with the SIDECHAIN ON toggle.
To use sidechain ducking:
- Enable the toggle.
- Route your kick drum (or whatever you want to trigger the ducking) to InfiniteDepth's sidechain input in your DAW.
- Adjust Threshold, Attack, Release, and Depth to taste.
Tip: ATK around 5–15ms, REL around 150–400ms, and DEPTH around 60–80% gives a natural pumping effect without being too obvious.
Footer Bar
| Element | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| CPU% | CPU usage by InfiniteDepth |
| Version | Current plugin version |
| Status dot | Green = playing, grey = idle |
Standalone Mode
When running InfiniteDepth as a standalone application (not inside a DAW), a Play/Stop button appears in the header. Use this to start and stop playback manually. In standalone mode, BPM sync reads from the manual BPM field since there is no DAW host to sync to.
Tips & Workflow Ideas
Adding Depth to a Beat
- Create a send/return channel in your DAW.
- Insert InfiniteDepth on the return.

- Double-click a knob to reset it to its default value.
- Hover over a knob to see its current value.
- All knobs and parameters support DAW automation.
Frequently Asked Questions
The plugin loads but I hear no sound. Check that your DAW transport is playing. InfiniteDepth plays audio when the DAW is running and is silent when stopped.
The sound doesn't match my key. Make sure the KEY dropdown in the header is set to your project's root key. InfiniteDepth will transpose the sound automatically on the next LOAD.
BPM shows wrong or doesn't update. Ensure SYNC is enabled. Some DAWs require the transport to be playing before they report BPM to plugins.
I installed a new pack but the sounds don't appear. Click RESCAN in the plugin, or close and reopen the plugin window. Check that the .idpack file is in the correct packs folder.
The sidechain ducking isn't working. Make sure you've routed a signal to InfiniteDepth's sidechain input in your DAW. The sidechain input is a separate bus, not the main input. Consult your DAW's documentation for routing a sidechain.
There's a click when I switch sounds. This shouldn't happen — InfiniteDepth crossfades between sounds automatically. If you hear a click, check your audio buffer size. Very small buffers (64 samples or less) can sometimes cause issues.
